This week, we wish to introduce you to:

Karen Kogut

Women’s Philanthropy Board Chair

2015-2017

 

Karen is Co-owner and Executive Vice President - Design Development for Alderock, Inc., a luxury hotel, resort and residential development company based in San Diego.

After speaking with Karen for just moments, you will know that she is a proud Texan, from Austin, who knows what it feels like to be a newcomer in a new community.  She has lived in 9 states and in 2 countries.  After moving to San Diego in 2008, Karen was inspired to join the Women’s Philanthropy Board to help ensure that all people feel welcome in the San Diego Jewish community. 

Karen helped kick off the Shalom San Diego initiative, co-chaired the Engagement and Education committee and twice co-chaired OPTIONS, the community engaging Women’s Event.  She is currently Chair of the Women’s Philanthropy Board and serves as a Director-at-Large for the General Board.  She is on both the Executive and Finance Committees.

Karen has also been involved with Casa de Amparo, which treats and works to prevent child abuse and neglect.  There, she co-chaired the Crystal Ball fundraising event for several years.
