Advancing Holocaust Education
We are at a turning point. It is imperative that the lessons of the Holocaust are not relegated to the past but acted upon today to cultivate a culture of awareness and empathy. This urgency is matched by our Federation’s largest-ever received donation, funding the launch of the Goldberg Family Holocaust Education Program & Mobile Museum, aimed at bringing modern Holocaust education to learners of all ages and backgrounds throughout San Diego County.
This initiative is not only about preserving the past but actively engaging with the present and fostering hope for the future. By delivering impactful programming and creating spaces for shared understanding, we are committed to combating the rising tide of antisemitism through education, advocacy, and community solidarity. It’s a testament to our core values of remembrance and resilience, promising that from the ashes of history’s darkest period will rise a beacon of knowledge and light.
Coming in 2026: Reimagining Holocaust Education for Today
Slated to roll out in the next school year, our state-of-the-art mobile museum and classroom will offer programs designed to teach lessons of the history of the Holocaust, using personal testimonies from local Survivors and interactive learning opportunities through cutting edge technology. It will emphasize the role that each individual can play in preventing hate and intolerance, urging everyone to speak out against injustice and to foster environments of respect and inclusivity. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn from the experiences of Survivors and other firsthand accounts of the Holocaust, understand the consequences of hatred and prejudice, and be inspired to stand up for justice and human dignity in their own communities.
Our Holocaust Education Team Will Come to You Now!
While we work on building the new mobile museum, we have developed a unique, eye-catching vehicle to travel across our community and serve as a thinker’s space with unlimited potential. It can be used as an alternative classroom space, a meeting spot, an outdoor art project area, or a temporary exhibit structure.
Using this vehicle, we have already begun to meet with administrators, teachers, students, and community leaders to build relationships and survey their wants and needs for Holocaust Education. Our Holocaust Education Team works closely with local educators to suggest, develop, build, and transform Holocaust Education as we create and promote age appropriate, multi-disciplinary, meaningful activities, curriculum, and experiences that make the lessons of the Holocaust relevant to this generation of learners.

There’s So Much Out There to Teach… Where Do I Start?
We know that teaching the lessons of the Holocaust can feel overwhelming. Federation is here to help! From 5 minutes to a full-day program, we will help you craft lessons that are meaningful, age-appropriate, and that inspire critical thinking.
When one of our specialists comes to meet with you, they can:
- Assist with navigating curriculum like Echoes and Reflections, Facing History and Ourselves, the U.S. Holocaust Museum and Memorial and so many others.
- Help identify Holocaust-specific literature and movies that are grade and age-level appropriate for your students and connect you with curriculum that makes these works come to life in your classroom.
- Work with your teaching team to design lessons that cross disciplinary boundaries and encourage students to interact with lessons of the past through language arts, music, art, graphic design, drama, and more.
Time Is Running Out.
This is the last generation of students who will ever hear from our Survivors in person. We can help connect you with our network of local speakers who continue to share their stories of survival with the world.
