Coming Together to Combat Antisemitism

The unsettling rise of antisemitism in our country has shaken many in our community, leaving people wondering how to fight the oldest hatred.

Antisemitism is a form of prejudice that is directed towards Jews as individuals and as a group. Antisemitism is based on age-old stereotypes and myths that can target Jews as a people, their religious practices and beliefs, or the Jewish State of Israel. Criticism of Israel or of Zionism is antisemitic when it uses anti-Jewish stereotypes or invokes antisemitic symbols and images, denies the Jewish right to self-determination, or holds Jews collectively responsible for actions of the State of Israel. A more fulsome definition of antisemitism has been provided by the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance).

Statistics about Rising Antisemitism

Antisemitism is a growing threat for all of us. We see it manifest itself on our college campuses, among our state and Federal legislators, coming from celebrities, and ubiquitously on social media. Whether it is a resurgent White Supremacist movement or radical delegitimization directed at Israel we see it steadily increasing both statistically and in our general senses of well-being.

Fighting this is the responsibility of all of us.

We must be ever more vigilant. We must speak out loudly when we see it. We must continue to educate about the causes and effect of this kind of hatred. We must continue to be good allies to other groups subjected to causeless hatred. Take action now:
