Come Dance with us at Israel Fest

As the celebration of Israel’s 70th approaches, we are reminded of all the wonderful things our Jewish homeland has given us to celebrate – food, culture, innovation, sabras, and of course, dance.

Israeli dance has taken all sorts of shapes (mainly circles) since 1948, but Israeli folk dance is at the forefront of it all. As is the case with most things, there have been several modern adaptations of Israeli dance. From line to modern, new generations are exploring Israeli expression through dance. Israeli dance had become a mainstay at Jewish summer camps, often serving as the highlight of the Shabbat experience.

To celebrate Israel @70 we are excited to announce our first ever community dance performance! Want to join us? There will be a community rehearsal on Sunday, April 22 from 1:00 – 2:30. All experience levels are welcome! Please contact Lillian Elbaz for the location and more information. You can also visit our website to watch some of the dances we plan to perform, get inspired, and practice on your own!

A special thank you to Yoni Carr who has been teaching and dancing in San Diego since 1984. Yoni is currently teaching Israeli Folk Dancing for all levels every Monday throughout the year. Please visit www.israelidancing.com for more information.
