As we close this week and prepare to welcome Shabbat, we recognize that two years ago, one day before we joined together to commemorate Yom Hashoah, tragedy struck the Kaye family, Chabad of Poway, and our local community. The murder of Lori Kaye z"l at the Chabad of Poway on April 27, 2019, shattered our sense of safety and security to the core.

We came together as a community after that horrific attack. Two years later, we have shown resilience and strengthened our community, both online and in person. We have stood up to antisemitism at home and around the world – and we will continue to do so.
 
We have recommitted to the safety and security of our community and are now part of an important partnership with ADL San Diego. Together, we are working tirelessly to ensure everyone has access to the highest levels of support to keep our community safe.
 
Today we remember Lori Kaye z"l. As a reminder of the light she brought to the community, we encourage everyone to light an extra candle this Shabbat in Lori’s honor.
