Meet Our New Chief Development Officer

Federation is pleased to announce the addition of Melissa Chapman, Chief Development Officer, to team Federation. She joins us with nearly 20 years of experience in the Federation world.

Born and raised in Chicago, she relocated to Sacramento in 2011 where she served as Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region. Under her leadership, the Federation eliminated a $500,000 deficit, purchased a building in Midtown, revived a critical social service agency, and reestablished itself as a relevant central address for the Jewish community.

Prior to that, Melissa spent 13 years with the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago where she has served as Assistant Vice President for Campaign. In her role, she organized over 350 missions to Israel and other destinations around the world, was responsible for all fundraising and outreach events, and managed a major gifts portfolio while providing professional leadership and direction to programs, volunteers, and staff.

She has served on multiple non-profit boards, has experience as an Editor-in-Chief and Poetry Editor of a literary magazine and completed independent grant research and developed curriculum on AIDS education through the Arts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing (Cum Laude) from Knox College.

We look forward to introducing her to our wonderful and welcoming community over the coming months.

Please join us in welcoming Melissa into our community!
