The Jewish Federation of San Diego County was honored at the recent American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) Board Meeting for the generosity of the Madeline Goldberg Endowment Fund.
The Fund was established in 2007 when local philanthropists Milton and Madeline Goldberg provided the endowment to Federation after Madeline’s death. Milton and Madeline had been long-time supporters of JDC and provided this endowment to continue their support of the important work happening in Israel and to honor Madeline's life. They asked Federation to determining the distribution to specific JDC programs based on the Goldberg’s interests.
After ten years of providing ongoing support, the Fund was distributed fully to JDC in May of 2017. Michael Sonduck, representing Federation, Jackie and Lara Woolf attended the presentation of an archival copy of The Legacy Siddur, prepared on behalf of JDC. The Goldberg’s bequest will become part of the 2nd Century Endowment to assure the continuity of JDC’s work for generations to come.
