Caregivers Anonymous, a new play by award-winning local playwright Janet S. Tiger, recipient of a 2016-17 Creative Catalyst Program Fellowship from The San Diego Foundation, will be performed Wednesday, May 3, 7:00 PM at Ohr Shalom Synagogue, as part of the Adult Education Program.

San Diego –Caregivers Anonymous, written by playwright and caregiver Janet Tiger, uses personal experience and humor to focus on the joys and challenges of care giving. The script will be given three staged reading workshop productions. All shows are free and open to the public and there will be a brief talk back for audience feedback following each performance. 

The idea for the play began when Tiger challenged herself to write a monologue a day for an entire year. The writing gave shape to feisty, funny, and compassionate characters who support each other through the challenges and joys of care-giving. In development since July 2016, the play’s journey included a caregiver’s focus group and script revisions with dramaturg Deborah Salzer, founder of Playwrights Project. The play was performed as a staged reading on February 18th at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, where it was well received and inspired engaging feedback and conversation in a post-performance discussion with the audience.
