Are flags permitted on the bimah? May a synagogue accept a donation from a criminal? Does the Jewish tradition permit cremation?

Join Rabbi Michael Berk for an engrossing three session series in which we will discuss questions like these, and more.

After the Talmudic period, questions “she’e’lot) about Jewish law were asked of leading scholars around the diaspora. Those rabbis, experts in Jewish law, issued answers, knows as “teshuvot.” That has become a vast store of literature known as “She’e’lot u’tshuvot” – Questions and Answers, or, Responsa Literature.

The Reform Movement has a long history of issuing responsa for contemporary questions. Reform congregations and rabbis make their own determinations about many of these questions and you are invited to offer your opinion on these questions.

No fee, but please RSVP at least one week in advance. For more information contact Program Director Ilene Tatro; itatro@cbisd.org or call 858 535-1111, ext.2516
