The Finest Community Coalition
The Coalition’s 49 local Jewish organizations work together to ensure that San Diego remains a place where its Jewish community feels safe, secure, and proud to be publicly Jewish. We believe that San Diego must live up to its reputation as America’s Finest City.
49 San Diego Jewish organizations working together to combat antisemitism
The Finest Community Coalition brings together synagogues, schools, advocacy groups, and community agencies so that San Diego’s Jewish community feels safe, secure, and proud to be publicly Jewish. To achieve this, the Coalition aims to:
- Coordinate. Aligns efforts and shares resources across member organizations.
- Respond. Acts quickly and with one voice when antisemitism appears in our region.
- Amplify. Supports and promotes the work member organizations are already doing to address antisemitism.
The Coalition's work has already reshaped the civic landscape. AB 715, California's antisemitism reporting law for K-12 schools, passed with Federation's support and created a funded Antisemitism Coordinator position at the state level. The San Diego City Council voted 8-0 to adopt the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism. And when hate has been platformed in our city, the Coalition has mobilized the community and been heard.
