Into Nature, Israeli Style
Team challenges outside and a chill nature walk. Israelis are obsessed with hiking. You’ll get why.
Israel, in ways you never expected.
8 Sundays. 8 totally different things. Zero lectures.
For high schoolers. Bring a friend (or three). No Hebrew or background needed, and every opinion is welcome.
I came here from Israel two months ago to be the Jewish Federation of San Diego’s Israeli emissary. My role is simple and complex at the same time, but at its heart, it’s about bringing Israel here and working with the community as a whole, and with teens in particular.
So how do we do that? Come join me on the journey. And if you read all the way to the end, there’s a way to reach me too. I’m always happy to meet…
you know, with me, Amit 😉
8 Sundays, 8 completely different vibes. Every hangout is somewhere different. Sign up, and the exact location lands in your inbox closer to the date.
Heads up: Dates, times or topics might shift a little as the year goes on. If you sign up, you hear about it first. So yeah, sign up early.

Israel shows up on your feed a lot. Learn to check sources, spot what’s missing and see the full picture, whatever your take.
Cook Israeli food where every dish has a backstory. Eat all of it. Take the recipes home.
There’s no one right way to connect to Israel. Come find yours. No wrong answers.
Krav Maga? A matkot tournament? Something else? Come ready to sweat.
Games and challenges for real talk: how to disagree, stay curious and still be friends after.
Israeli dance, drums and a huge sing-along before Yom Ha’atzmaut. Zero dance skills required.
The end-of-year party. What happens? That’s literally the surprise.
Your passport comes at your first hangout. Every time you show up, you get another stamp.
do i need to know stuff about israel?
Nope. Every hangout starts with something you already know, like food, a game or a song.
can i say what i actually think?
Yes. That’s kind of the point. Every view is welcome here, and so is every question. We just keep it respectful.
can i bring my friend?
Please do. They just need to sign up too.
will there be food?
There’s always something to eat. Always vegetarian and pareve. Tell us about allergies when you sign up.
ok but will it be awkward
Maybe for five minutes. Then it’s not. Promise 🤞
One sign-up per teen, so friends sign up here too.

Meet with Amit is run by Jewish Federation of San Diego and led by Amit, our Israeli emissary. Through hands-on experiences and honest conversation, teens make new friends, build their own relationship with Israel, and pick up tools they’ll use long after.
Teens can ask real questions about Israel, hear views different from their own and talk them through with respect. No one is told what to think.
Reading the news critically, listening across disagreement, teamwork and speaking up with confidence, all built by doing.
Up to 30 high schoolers, hosted by Federation staff. Each hangout is in a different place, and the exact location and details are emailed after sign-up, closer to each date.
Most hangouts run 4 to 6 PM, done in time for dinner and homework.
And yes, we see you too. This season is all about teens, but a Meet with Amit for grown-ups is on its way. Stay tuned.
