Be an Advocate and Make a Difference - Join JITLI

Gary Jacobs with JITLI participants

Attention teens and parents! JITLI wants you to become an advocate, make a difference, and be the change!

WHAT IS JITLI?

The Gary and Jerri-Ann Jacobs International Teen Leadership Institute (JITLI) was created in 2000 with the assistance of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County. The Institute realizes the vision of its founders to create a program dedicated to the education and leadership development of young people in the context of interaction with other cultures. JITLI offers the opportunity for the participants to appreciate their similarities, acknowledge their differences and understand each other’s cultures. JITLI will impact the lives of the young participants forever, imbuing them with the knowledge, the tools and the will to affect their own futures and those of their peers and communities.

The purpose of JITLI is to engage equally represented groups of Jewish American, Jewish Israeli, Arab Israeli, and Palestinian high school students, who are entering their senior year, in a series of multicultural seminars, dialogues, simulation games, performances, presentations, and encounters with experts in relevant fields. JITLI program activities may include:

  • Tour of Mexican Border Wall
  • Visit San Diego City Hall
  • Overnight Trip
  • Visit Cabrillo National Monument
  • Visit Old Town
  • Home Hospitality

If you know a teen interested in the experience of a lifetime you are in luck! Interviews to join JITLI will be held during the afternoons of March 12-15, 2018. RSVP to ariella.shamir@gmail.com
